How to find the right Edge Trim

How to find the right Edge Trim – With a vast range of different size and shape edge trims, our selection can mean there are more than one suitable for your project. To narrow down your search, try the below:

  1. What is the thickness of the edge you are wishing to cover with the trim? – This is the most important factor and one many overlook and just buy based on the external dimensions. Our trims fit perfectly on smooth surfaces such as Metal or Plastic but can also be used succesfully on Wood, Composites and Fibreglass edges where the material thickness may vary slightly. If this is the case, measure in a few places and take an average. All our listings show what edge thickness the trim will fit, either in the image of the product or the description or both.
  2. How long do you need it? – Seems obvious but its always worth double checking the length you need for the job in hand, if in doubt, always order an extra metre just in case so you have enough. And our most common question, will it be sent in one length? Yes! Although priced by the metre, all our trims, seals and extrusions will be sent as a complete length. So if you order a quantity of 5, you’ll get a complete 5 metre length. This is the case right up to the maximum coil length which is usually 25, 50 or 100m metres depending on the specific product.
  3. Do the external sizes of the trim matter? Do they have to fit in a particular gap/groove/channel etc? All our listings show the external dimensions of the trims in height and width to allow you to make sure that they will fit perfectly in your application. Some jobs of course do not matter and the external size can be anything but we know that if you have a particular gap or recess for example then the external sizes are important. It also provides a realistic size before you purchase so the trim will ‘look right’ on your project. As a general rule, the thicker the material, the bigger and bulkier the trim will be.
